It’s been a busy couple of weeks at the Dad 2.0quarters, beginning with our site visit to the Hyatt Lost Pines Resort on August 25-27. The team spent lots of quality time planning out content and activities that we’ll reveal in the coming weeks, as the schedule firms up and the sponsors sign on.
For now, however, it’s important to announce that we are formally announcing our Dad 2.012 Call for Speakers, which will be active until midnight (EST) on Tuesday, November 1. It may seem a little anticlimactic to announce this now, after the flurry of proposals we’ve already received over the summer, but we wanted to schedule the formal announcement when summer was over, and the kids were back in school, and we returned to that hallowed time of year, when men can watch bigger men try to cripple each other on the gridiron.
In keeping with the overall plan, we’re especially interested in topics that fit somewhere within the following four categories:
- Psychology/identity of fatherhood;
- The process/craft of writing;
- Business and professional development; and
- Technology/tools, especially for unwritten content
These categories are meant to suggest a flow involving 1) being a dad; 2) writing about being a dad; and 3) making a business about writing about being a dad. And they’re also merely rough guidelines at this point, so if you have an idea that you think doesn’t fit within any of them, do not be discouraged. Any good idea can be realized with a little creativity and flexibility.
If you’ve got an idea for a speaker’s panel, please submit it here.
If you’ve already submitted a proposal, you should have received an e-mail from us confirming receipt.
In either case, if you’re planning to join us next March, you can score your ticket now at the reduced early rate. And if you’re chosen as a speaker, we will reimburse your ticket price and expedite your reservation at the Pines at our (greatly) reduced attendee rate.
