Bad news, good news, and Really Great News

We have news. And the good news is that it’s mostly good news. But there is one element of bad news that we need to address right away, before we get to the good news and the even better news.

Over the past several weeks, we’ve been inundated with ideas and speaker proposals for Dad 2.013. About a week ago, however, we started getting follow-up e-mails from eager submitters waiting to hear if their proposals had been accepted. And we were happy to respond–until we realized that some of these e-mails were about submissions we had no record of receiving.

When looked into it, we found the wrench in the works: An issue with our site had corrupted some of the e-mails we had received, rendering their contents irretrievable. The problem is fixed now, but there’s still the nagging question that some of your submissions have been jettisoned into Web Limbo.

Therefore, in order to make every attempt to make sure every voice is heard, the good news is that we are extending our Call for Speakers by two weeks, until Friday, September 14. During that time, we encourage you to contact Doug (at doug [at] dad2summit [dot] com) to confirm that your submission has been received. If so, you’re golden. If not, we hope you’ll consider re-submitting it on our Call For Speakers form.

And if you haven’t submitted yet but were planning to, you’ve got two extra weeks, LazyPants. Get on it.

And now, the Really Great News: Yesterday, our Title Sponsor Dove®Men+Care® released its newest campaign, Journey to Comfort, featuring Doug Flutie and John Elway. We’re very happy to say that 1) each of the videos (which you can watch here) has a very father-centric tone, and 2) the campaign will factor prominently into a Dad 2.0 event to be held later this fall. Stay tuned for more details!

Thanks for your patience as we clean up this ridiculously annoying server glitch, and if you’ve submitted something to us, please be sure to contact us to confirm its receipt. We appreciate it from the bottom of our BBQ-sauce-soaked hearts.
