Fatherhood on Friday: Preparing for the second annual Iris Awards

dad2summitAnnouncements, Fatherhood on Friday, Uncategorized

This week, we’re at The Phoenician resort in Scottsdale, Arizona, for the 2015 Mom 2.0 Summit. Each year, we wonder how our motherly counterparts can possibly outdo the previous year’s effort, and each year they predictably do, to spectacular effect.

If you’re unfamiliar with our origin story, we started as a track of dad-specific content at the 2011 Mom 2.0 Summit in New Orleans. It was a great thrill to return to the Crescent City for our third Summit in 2014, and it’s even more amazing to think we’ll be as big at Dad 2.016 (in terms of attendance) as Mom 2.0 was the year we were born.

We owe the Mom 2.0 Summit team a great debt, for launching us, supporting us, and inspiring us to achieve more, in our quixotic quest to keep pace with their skill and growth. And this year, we’re particularly looking forward to tonight’s Iris Awards, for which several dads have been nominated.

For the Iris Awards’ second installment, the Mom 2.0 team welcomed dads into its community, as nominators and voters, and the results did not disappoint. Twelve awards will be presented tonight, each with five nominees, and of those 60 candidates, 18 are dads or dad-related (you can see the full list here).

The red carpet starts tonight at 5:15 Pacific, so if you’re not lucky enough to be here with us in person, we hope you’ll follow long on our respective Twitter feeds and show your support with the #irisawards and #mom2summit hashtags. Being here with these amazing women–and admiring the standard they’ve set as they prepare to put their seventh conference to rest–has been truly inspirational. Their extraordinary arc of success is a great template to try to follow, and it’s particularly gratifying when we manage to keep pace.

Good luck and congratulations to all the nominees tonight!
