FoF: Eight Great Answers to “What is Dad 2.0?”

dad2summitFatherhood on Friday

Did you watch the Stanley Cup Finals last night? The Washington Capitals finally broke through, and the Great Eight himself finally got to hoist the trophy.

This is a sign, because today is June 8, and we’re opening the ticket window for our 8th Dad 2.0 Summit with our annual Father’s Day, Never-Gonna-Be-Cheaper-Than-This price of $169. Where it will stay until July 1, when the price goes to $199.

We get pretty excited about stuff like this, because we want everyone to experience Dad 2.0 for themselves, whether they have 8 kids (looking at you Dick Van Patten) or worship their Magic 8-Ball (it is decidedly so). Fathers, media, and marketers should all be able to have their conference cake and ate it, too (sorry about that). But what is Dad 2.0?

  1. The easiest answer is from the landing page of this website, which we have dutifully cut and pasted here: The Dad 2.0 Summit is an open conversation about the commercial power of dads online, and an opportunity to learn the tools and tactics used by influential bloggers to create high-quality content, build personal brands, and develop business ideas.
  2. It is a place to connect with others (like-minded and otherwise) and talk about how great fatherhood is, and how we can make it even better.
  3. It’s where you can share your story (perhaps at our Friday night Dad Voices workshop) that makes an impact on others, who share their stories, which affect you at the same time.
  4. It’s where we directly influence the narrative of fatherhood, as portrayed in the media or by brand campaigns.
  5. Looking for creative inspiration and collaboration with potential business partners? You’ll find your fill of fodder and tons of folks searching for the same thing. Dad 2.0 connects creatives and entrepreneurs who make great things.
  6. What about bonding and making lifelong friends? That’s our real specialty. Dad 2.0 is the beginning of a beautiful friendship.
  7. Dad 2.0 Summit has “Dad” right there in the title. And even though moms are absolutely more than welcome, the topics we discuss keep dads’ viewpoints and concerns at the forefront of our conversations.
  8. In a nutshell, Dad 2.0 is a celebration of modern fatherhood, the lessons we’ve learned, and the wisdom we attempt to pass on to the next generation. It is the place to champion causes and policy, viewpoints and parenting styles. It is full of hugs and handshakes, and a big scoop of hope for tomorrow.

Back at Dad 2.018, our six-time Title Sponsor Dove Men+Care asked our attendees to record messages to the next generation of fathers, to help them build on the work we’re all putting in now. And as Father’s Day approaches, you can see a number of them being shared on social media with the #DearFutureDads hashtag.
