Men’s health is in crisis; Movember is here to help

Ever since our inception, the Dad 2.0 Summit has been a proud and fervent sponsor of Movember, the movement dedicated to improving men’s health that in just 12 years has grown from 30 men in Australia to 5 million Mo Bros and Mo Sistas all over the world.

The data that inspired this effort are discouraging:

  • On average, across the world, men die six years earlier than women.
  • Three quarters of suicides are by men. The World Health Organization estimates that 510,000 men die from suicide globally each year. That’s one every minute.
  • Prostate cancer is the second-most common cancer in men worldwide, and the number of cases is expected to almost double, to 1.7 million cases, by 2030.

The cause is simple: To bring vital funding and attention to the crisis in men’s health crisis.

And the method is simpler: Rather than pin an awareness ribbon on our chests, we can grow one on our faces.

Much more information about the Movember Foundation’s motivations, efforts, financials, etc., is available on its home page and throughout its website. To lend your support, please considering sponsoring someone who is growing a Mo and/or committing to a daily physical fitness regimen throughout the month of November.
